low effort edit:

god I wish.
only place I can find anything fem that fits a male frame is my local queer thrift store. I’d kill for like a femboy clothing chain
For real, finding clothes that fit an enby like me is a nightmare.
Unless you’re 5’11" or taller, in which case nothing will fit and you have to special-order everything and you don’t get to have the fun clothes-shopping experience everyone else gets to have.
I got lucky with this one. Started my transition at 5’10", HRT has made me 5’8".
Or if you’re composed mostly of shoulder. Like, i cant even wear most male-clothes, i can cross my arms and rip things in the back. Sucks. 🥲
there are people out there who would pay good money for that ability
Winter coats are expensive
Idk lately I’ve been finding it easier to find pants in my size as someone 5’11". And I’m leggy enough my shirts are just a women’s medium.
That said, I’m just awkward and usually by most of my clothes from thrift stores
I just have long arms lol. Anything medium would work if it wasn’t for the sleeves 🙃
All my best wardrobe finds have been from thrift stores too. Stuff from 30 years ago is more likely to be well made and have super-long sleeves, from what I’ve encountered.
we had great fabric 20-30 years ago. then there was the enplaidening. i’ve been able to find good fabrics again in one non-thrift store i can afford again and i hope it means shopping will be fun again soon.
Ah that sucks, I really lucked out there, though I still mostly wear tshirts
I recognize the mtf nuance of this, but… isnt just a rehash of “women be shopping” boomer humor?
How is this a rehash of women be shopping? I’m a woman, I enjoy shopping, am I not allowed to rejoice in that? Or are you saying that transfeminine people must avoid any kind of behavior or preference associated with western feminine gender roles?
I think it’s the way the panels are labelled. I think if it read just “Before” and “Now”, or something like that, it would clearly be about personal experience, funny, maybe relatable.
But with “Shopping as a man/woman” it can interpreted as either personal experience of both sides OR broad sweeping generalisations of what men/women must all experience when shopping. And that second version is the boomer rehash.
I think this is mostly it. The labeling just feels like it immediately conjures up this trope

At a glance, OPs formatting feels like its cut from the same template. “Before/After” would probably help break that connection.
It’s a trans comic so the before/now are clearly implied, to me. “[me] shopping as a guy” vs “[me] shopping as a woman”
But women DO be shopping
I can only name one chain that has men clothes not on 2. story or higher. They have a special all mixed concept.
Edit: woops, overlooked the femboy part. Still, the pain is real.
As much as I enjoy finding new clothes as a cis guy I kinda like it being in one floor / area. Maybe I’m closer to boomer but technically I’m just Gen x. So whatever.
I was amused by the comic To each their own preference, and I’ll gladly think think that’s cool too, that’s what makes us all great.
I’ve met some cis women who exclusively shop in the men’s department because the clothes are cheaper and sized sanely.
They don’t care that their buttons are “on the wrong side” so long as they have pockets.
Personally, I have never encountered a shopping center where were so much floors with only women’s clothes.
Its just a feeling
Ive been to a few before tbh. 10 is gigantic but Ive been in a clothes store that was 5 floors, 4 of which were women’s and 1 of which was half men’s half kids.
I’ve found a few where it’s like 1 back corner with some men’s clothes in it. TJ Maxx immediately comes to mind.
Might also just be biased on seeing the sheer variety among clothes available (even if most of it doesn’t sell) in the women’s section and then getting to the men’s and it’s like stepping into Pleasantville.
as a cis guy, I lament the great male renunciation.
It’s honestly fucking insane that we’re still letting Victorian men dictate what we can wear. The only real pushback has been from femboys in the last like decade, and we’re still a minority.
It is a really good thing that the queer community has taken upon themselves to undo the great male renunciation.
There are more options for me thanks to them, And the only consequence is that now only homophobes have to comply with the renunciation.
Don’t cave in then, they don’t forbid you from shopping in the women’s section
But pockets!!!
As a cis guy I got myself a kilt and it is so comfortable, I want more skirts, not even a queer thing, it is just comfortable.
I always assumed a skirt would be more uncomfortable than normal trousers, I was so wrong.
A lot of stores in the UK men don’t even have a floor, we have a corner
How many floors do y’all have? I think the most I’ve encountered is five, in a Chinese shopping mall
most i’ve ever seen is about 3-4. 10 is… ridiculous heh
Y’all do know that we as men can just choose to shop in the women’s section, right? There’s nobody stopping you
The post isn’t about a man, its about a woman. This is her experience with allowing herself to explore her gender presentation.
Yes men are allowed to shop in the women’s section. Men can present however they want to, and in a fair and just world would be allowed to do so without repercussions. This post is in the transfeminine community however and really does not concern men.
90% of society looking down on anyone remotely different is stopping me
