• Nothing is stopping you from rolling initiative. Next time you’re out and about and see a potential combat situation, just roll to see if you can strike first. Make reality D&D.

I have the same quest and I’ve talked to every villager I can find and while some of them respond positively to the “want to play D&D?” prompt, none of us have been able to solve the scheduling minigame 😔

My group fell apart because of scheduling issues. I miss it.

In my 30 years experience playing, groups rarely fall apart due to scheduling. They fall apart because the game isn’t compelling. People will make the time if they’re enjoying it.

ehh we were pretty far into Avernus and then one of the players travelled for 3 months, and after that there were a bunch of scheduling conflicts and everyone started forgetting plot points and characters.

Me and my group started a game, we played on Monday evenings so I created a mailing list and called it [Mondays] (it was the early 2000s, email was the best option). About 3 minutes after that one person becomes unavailable for all future Mondays, so the Mondays group met for years on Tuesdays

About half the people are different and the group went from five to ten to four over the years. Right now we meet on Fridays. I have a different group that meets on Mondays

Invite new folks who want to play ttrpgs specifically, let the typical folks know that there will be new folks, and see who sticks around after the shoe drops.

It has been 25 years for me - my group fell apart, life took over, and then my social anxiety made it impossible and will probably until the end of my days. Playing Shadowrun was a great time tho, and i’m happy i was able to experience it.

I’m in the same boat. I also got rulebooks for Pathfinder 2E + Mutants and Masterminds in case I wanted to mix it up.

Now they all have a neat little spot on the shelf to collect dust.

I was in the same boat. Have you tried solo roleplaying? It’s not for everyone but I’m enjoying it a lot lately. Especially with the mythic gm emulator.

[not op] I’m in it for the social, neither online (without open mics and video) nor solo is appealing

There’s some online services that connect people. It’s really hit or miss, but could lead to a decent campaign for you.

There might be meetups near you doing games. There’s one here in NYC that’s very friendly I’ve been to.
