Well, for starters it was more a volonteer work for the local trans association. But I went out with a dress and thights and well I only had “Converse” for shoes but I feel it was looking good with the outfit.
I had make-up on trying to hide my leftover beard, lipstick, mascara, eye shadow and eye liner. My wife helped for the face part.
I went out like this. I was really stressed but it felt good after a while. I was conforted that I was going to a really small cinema that was running a lgbtqia+ movie and 2 other local allied association was there. I ran an information stand and we were selling small goodies with a member or the association.
I felt a bit stupid when people were asking my name and was giving my deadname since I haven’t decided yet for a name.
Anyway felt good to be with other queer or allies. Also people feel I look younger than I really am ( yay! ☺️)
Most likely I will probably only dress full female when going to events with the association. I wouldn’t feel safe enough otherwise.
This post was more about sharing this experience. Hope your day has been good!
Oh Hon! Congrats! It’s always baby steps but this one is a BIG OLE BABY LEAP! I’m so happy for you, it wasn’t that long ago when I had my own big day out and my heart flutters just thinking about it.
Good for you!
it only gets easier from here 😁
also, just a soft suggestion: I know trans girls IRL who change their name all the time, trying out a new name from time to time to see what fits them. You don’t have to have the perfect name yet to not use your deadname, anything will do in the meantime, and you can always say you’re trying out a name to see how it feels. Especially in LGBT+ friendly spaces that can be well understood and accepted.
congrats on making such a huge step! 🥳
This is such a good suggestion! Sometimes a name might resonate with you on paper, but then speaking it or having someone hear it can be a different experience. I absolutely adore the name I chose; however, I never gave much thought about how certain phonetics can get tangled up when a name is a bit more unique 🤭 So many letters make similar sounds. D’s sound like B’s sound like P’s sound like V’s…
I will so be passing that idea on to others in my community 🩷
it felt good after a while.
yay!
🎉 that’s great! show thrm all!
hell yeah!! its awesome that you are able to have such a good community around you with regards to this stuff. being able to be yourself without having to worry about repercussions is one of the best things in earlier (and later) transition!
may the shenanigans be bountiful in fulfillment :)
In a time when so much of the outside world makes me feel sick inside, this made my heart swell with joy for you. Thank you for sharing and I am so glad you had a good experience!
Way to go!!
i love that so much <3
Good for you!! ☺️
