Please read the rules of the community before posting. If you’re banned and wondering why,

Debate surrounding transgender rights or acceptance will result in an immediate ban.

Yes that includes any kind of debate. This is not the community for any form of that.

The title seems like clickbait. Her actual statement seems in favor of what sports leagues were already doing.

Kamala is irrelevant and quite weird. And why does everyone who lost an election feel the need to write a book now?

Better question: who the fuck buys books written by politicians? Do we not get enough free bullshit from them?

Let’s say, you wanted to reward a politician for supporting your political beliefs, you can’t just… give them money now can you?

But, you can help them get a book deal, and then when the book comes out you can buy a bunch to donate to libraries or something. This has the benefit of artificially inflating the sales numbers and getting it on a best sellers list.

It’s concern they aren’t being treated with acceptance… right?

    From TFA…

“I agree with the concerns expressed by parents and players that we have to take into account biological factors such as muscle mass and unfair student athletic advantage when we determine who plays on which teams, especially in contact sports,” Harris reportedly wrote. “With goodwill and common sense, I believe we can come up with ways to do this, without vilifying and demonizing children.”

Crucially, many athletic organizations’ policies already contained rules to mitigate such “biological factors,” usually by requiring trans athletes to complete a certain number of years of hormone therapy. Some of those policies have been rolled back or eliminated in favor of strict binary classifications based on “biological sex,” amid the ongoing conservative anti-trans backlash. Last year, a study funded in part by the International Olympic Committee found that trans women may actually face notable disadvantages compared to cisgender women in athletic competitions after taking hormones.

Still, some Democrats have ceded ground on trans-inclusive sports in the wake of the 2024 election. In March, California Gov. Gavin Newsom told the late far-right pundit Charlie Kirk he agreed that trans girls playing high school sports was “deeply unfair.” Last month, Pete Buttigieg — reportedly Harris’ first pick for running mate in 2024 — followed suit, calling for Democrats to “take those questions [about fairness] seriously and face those together” in a podcast appearance.

Nuanced takes from Harris and Mayor Pete. Careful, thoughtful ideas that are functionally red meat for Republican bullies to tear apart and feed to their base.

Our health care is being denied, our livelihoods are being taken away and our lives are increasingly in danger. It’s not too much to expect the politicans (supposedly) on my side to have some more fucking fight in their rhetoric.

I’m not surprised, sad but not surprised. She’s a democrat through and through meaning she has no qualms moving further to the right if it helps her get elected

she has no qualms moving further to the right if it helps her get elected

      Spoiler

It won’t get her elected. This tactic never worked, but they keep trying it.

Yep and it’s why the democratic party is a lost cause, they refuse to go to the left and they openly embrace fascism whenever they can

Almost like both ‘sides’ are the same…

Or just all governments eventually become this, maybe we should just get rid of all of them.

Why do you care so much about the government and not sports bodies making this choice? Do you have any personal stake in this, or did they tell you you’re supposed to care?

There’s everything controversial. I believe the “biological factors” and “'muscle mass” and “unfair student athletic advantage” is just bullshit for policing who can sport where.

Let queer people be themselves and pick themselves where they feel safe.

“Fair competition” MUST mean that queer people aren’t policed by oligarch billionnaires stuck in the 18th Century. Your shit doesn’t help.

Nothing controversial? This is student sports let the kids play. No one is ever talking about stopping/secluding the tall kids from playing basketball, stopping someone like michael phelps who is advantaged. Everyone has physical differences. It is a sport, exactly, its a game for fun so the fact we are even having this conversation in the first place is controversial
