Hey friends ❤️

Bit of an off topic question, but could use some help from my sisters.

Coming up is the first Valentine’s day that my wife and I have decided to celebrate. It’s also the first one since I cracked my egg.

I’m weirdly at a loss for how to celebrate and what gifts to get my wife. Specifically, I would love to find a gift or make a meaningful memory for her as a thank you for her devotion and love for me. Especially after coming out and being my authentic self.

Does anyone have any ideas? Best I have thought of is a set of matching jewelry or maybe little love notes hidden around the house about why I love her.

Not really sure

Jewelry is lovely (if she likes jewelry and it is suited to her taste), but the notes would be so memorable and personal. The most memorable gift my husband ever gave me was radishes — so perfect, and suited exactly to me. We’ve been married 10 years, and he is still just as thoughtful, but that’s a hard one to beat. (They were a heritage variety, and so so good!) If it’s personal and given with love, it’s hard to go wrong.

You could always get a hissing cockroach named at Bronx Zoo. I find it hilarious that they’re selling it as some special Valentine’s Day gift.

    They even have roach plushies.

When I started my transition, the butterfly symbolism always really seemed to settle me when shit got rough & gave me something positive to hold on to.

As such, I started photographing butterflies a while back & have been printing them on metal as gifts.

If you’re at all interested, happy to chat further, but here’s a link to my portfolio.

Maybe it’s possible to get a bouquet that includes flowers that butterflies love. Then write something heartfetlt in the card.

Maybe you can take her to some place that’s special to you.

I’ve learned that flowers give my wife anxiety because she desperately tries to keep them alive (regardless if they’re planted or cut) and gets sad when they inevitably die 😬

But maybe I could incorporate a little caterpillar life cycle drawing thing in my love notes I hide around the house that end in a photo of two butterflies together or something 🤔

Depends a lot on the person. I’m all about jewelry, flowers, and being taken out for dinner. But something thoughtful like the love notes is incredibly sweet and would totally melt my heart. I’ve also always thought getting some nice pictures taken of the 2 of you is a nice commemoration of your relationship. But that’s not necessarily a valentines day thing and may be pretty specific to me lol.

Make the day special for her and for yourself in whatever way feels right :)

Thank you for the suggestions! Pictures sound like a great idea because we don’t have many since I came out yet. They’ve been a bit of a sore subject because all pictures pre-egg crack are me with a beard and you can really see the sadness behind my eyes. Some photos afterwards would be a great gift ❤️
