I (nbish guy) get a weird excitement for women when I get the subtlest hint that they transitioned, like their voice, that genuinely shocks me. It makes me so happy for them and blows my mind how much transitioning, well, transforms a person. Its like seeing a person’s entire self actualization in a split second. Pride in a stranger.
He doesn’t care
most people probably realise i’m trans but so what? >:3
nothing wrong with being trans. it’s not some horrible secret i’d need to hideI was dating a girl once and things were pretty good. She was at my place and random songs played from my playlist. She was outside with the dogs and when she walked in, transgender dysphoria blues by against me! Was playing, which happens to be one of my favourite bands/songs. She looked at it and had an odd reaction. I kinda shrugged it off. Some time later we were at a concert and she came over to me, pretty excited. I asked her what’s up and she pointed at some guy and was like: do you think that guy is a girl?? He looks like a girl. She had some diabolical excitement in her voice. I asked her why that matters and why she would care. She said because she just wants to make fun of them.
I was never in my life so disappointed in a person and my own ability to judge a character. We had a huge fight there and she told me that she can’t believe i would freak out because of “some tranny”.
I tried to explain to her that i spend most of my adult life going to concerts like this, where people can just be themselves without some random assholes judging them. We broke up and i never saw her again. It kinda shook my world, that “normal” people are just like this. People i “like” it’s so shit and no one deserves that.
Woah I really expected it turn out she was trans and not a bigot, bullet dodged.
Fuckin love how Laura Jane Grace belts even better after transitioning, it’s wild. Tbh I do get a weird twinge when the F slur drops, but it also kinda goes hard. It just feels like an archaic word to hear nowadays. Makes for a pretty good temp check of a song though
Yeah it’s so weird that normal people can be evil. I’ve dated a lot of people, even inside the trans community, who turned out to be just awful.
People really are weird sometimes … I’ve had similar experiences where people come out with some random racism or bigotry, and it’s like “WTF, that was in them all along?!”
“Okay, so I’m not racist, but… [the most racist and out of nowhere opinion that no one asked for].”
Lmao l immediately started imagining someone on Xbox Live. But that was back in the day and now they’re just in the grocery store and shit.
Panel 3: thumbs up and a smile (he don’t mind bc he cool like that)
What may be a bigger factor is that the body language of someone feeling uncomfortable is noticed and reciprocated empathetically by someone who empathises with you, automatically.
Genuine question - I don’t actually know how to signal allyship without looking like I’m pandering or being weird. I dress pretty professional/plainly on transit and figure a trans pin would be of place because I don’t have any other backpack decorations. Are there subtle things you guys and girls have seen that sends a positive message in a subtle way?
Honestly, when it comes to public transit, just don’t stare at us or treat us any differently. If you do have more direct communication with someone, you only need to signal allyship when it contextually makes sense, or when you think they actively need the allyship. Offering help at the right time is the sort of ally opportunity you should look out for. Other than that, just being cool, nonjudgmental person is all you need to worry about. If you’re chill vulnerable people will trust you.
Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it.
Something really bothers me about this.
What are they sitting on? Where are they?
A bus
THANK YOU!!! I wasn’t going to be able to sleep without figuring this out. The blue background had me assuming either sky or a pool.
I’m tired, but my brain kept thinking there was 2 people asking if it was okay to sit in front of two invisible cloaked people, and then just stood there. It took me way to long to realize this was only two people 😅

I, too, find this comic confusing - they seem to be standing rather than sitting, and I can’t make sense of what is behind them
It’s a pole with a strap, for standing passengers (it’s on a bus or train), I believe.
yay, you fixed the comic!
Ahh, I was thinking the can lights and seats looked like a fancy movie theater after a while, I couldn’t figure out that the pole was to hang on like the subway or such.
If their thoughts are worth caring about, then they likely don’t care even if they can tell.
