  • Big cats have hunting instincts that are hard to turn off even if they like you (see: any news story of a big cat eating their owner), humans have instincts relating to forming communities. every single species has some instincts they follow and they aren’t the same as ours, they’ll deeply shape how a species’ cultures/morals/etc develop. Just saying goblins are little green humans is deeply boring and hurts world building.

  • Paizo ain’t wizards, they give you lots of information about how to run a game, even down to the general amount of money they should have or the amount of events they should fight in a day.

The experience can be useful for a type of campaign you haven’t run before i suppose, I’m doing sevenfold conspiracy and it has lots advice on running an investigatory whodunit. Although i wouldn’t look to the paths for hard balancing advice, the wrath game I’m in is exceptionally easy (until it suddenly isn’t) and the game I’m running is pretty easy too (but it’s not based around combat).

  • One of my favorite obstacles I’ve ever placed in front of my players was a cat asking who they were. They couldn’t progress until they answered due to the nature of the path they were traveling, but there was literally no way to get it wrong. The cat would accept any answer that wasn’t outright bullshit and would never hurt them for lying. The duelist steps up and gives his noble affiliation, the commoner fast talker steps up and gives a not-quite-a-lie. They both repeat this process expecting to fight or talk their way through a problem that just doesn’t exist, the others being too worried to do so until the npc they brought with them does the same. Eventually they all answer, with the secret heir to the throne not even giving away his title, then flounder until one of them just walks down the road. It was great watching them be so paranoid over a little cat.

  • Currently torn between a summoner who’s eidolon is a devil butler that is very disapproving of basically their entire existence or a changeling gravewalker witch (or whatever the undead archetype was), both for the same carrion crown campaign so one will go unused.

Currently got an idea for a changeling punk singer that leans heavily into summer and pyretics, with a dash of primal. Very emotional and hot headed, with a partner (basically the literal exact opposite of them) they want to find. Unfortunately I’m the only one who runs changeling.

Really want to play a lunar exalted some day, a low class ‘king’ that other outcasts choose to follow. Very much unhappy the forces of chaos that threaten the world, the forces of order that demand control, and people in general. Sadly i don’t see us running exalted any time soon since everyone in my group that’s wants to run something is.
