I had a conservative colleague who at a lunch table once accidentally misgendered me early in my transition. I was wearing a full dress (honestly overdressed), and he turned to me after and said “sorry, ‘’‘she’‘’” in this heavily ironic fake-polite tone.
I just smiled as if I appreciated his politeness 🙃
I get it though, I look back at those photos and cringe at the man in the dress I see 🤢
I think that’s the right interpretation, although I don’t think it has to be hyperfem/hypermasc. Could be something as basic as having long hair.
