Are you telling me I get to play with cats all day, get free housing AND leave the U.S?

This has to be the onion right?

But there are caveats, like warm weather, tasty food and nude beaches. That’s the catch. That’s how they getcha.

Aaaah my nemesis, [*checks notes*] tasty food. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to try and make a sacrifice for the cats.

Ah, the nude beaches. That’s the loophole. They won’t be allowing me there.

But you’re occupied with taking care of cats

      Good luck buying food, etc

According to the article, you’re only required to work with the cats for 5 hours per day. As for food, they provide breakfast as well as housing. Assuming you sleep 8 hours per day, that’s 11 hours per day to yourself. Frankly, I think this would be an amazing way to spend a summer month or two.

Can you ONLY be around them 5 hours a day? Because the 11 hours without them sounds pretty sad. So does the 8 hours of sleep without kitties on top of me, soaking up my warmth.

The article says, “applicants will be expected to commit five hours per day, five days per week to hands-on feline care.” To me that means if you want to spend more time with them than you can. I imagine you could do as many hours per day and days per week that you want to. You are correct though that having to spend eight hours sleeping without kitty cuddles could be a negative.

Maybe I could take 2 or 3 home at night, if I promise to bring them back in the morning. Rotate them, give them all a chance to visit.

I really want this job, I have to learn Greek.

It’s a summer program. Not sure if they let you say “I’ll be there for a week” but I would bet on making it a vacation and assuming you need some money of your own.

The article says the minimum commitment is a month. They also provide breakfast.

Ope, didn’t catch that. Well, a month in Greece with free room and breakfast would be a pretty affordable vacation, and five hours a day with cats isn’t terrible.

The problem with this is the same I would have if I ever worked in a rescue, I get attached. Too fast and too furiously. At the end of my greek vacation I would be bringing about 35 kittens home with me. I know myself and I can’t be trusted. My attachment is not healthy

“Kitten cuddling” is a euphemism. They are chaos gremlins with needles permanently affixed to their feet.

    Still cute tho.
