  • I received some reports, so I want to confirm that I verified that the OP is in Corfu and is at the very least taking care of many cats. She shared ID, vet bills, and a time stamped photo with several of the cats.

That said I have no way to verify all of her story and, as commenters have pointed out, her $100,000 goal and AI generated donation page description are suspicious. I think I was too hasty in allowing the donation link. I will leave this post up, assuming OP removes the donation link in a timely manner.

I’ve reached out to OP to take down her donation link. And requested that she post updates on the cats for several weeks, how they’re doing, and what she’s doing for them. If she can provide consistent updates then I’ll reconsider allowing her donation link.

To the several people who reported this post:

This community does not have a ban on AI generated images. Especially ones as silly and harmless as this.

Should a user abuse AI generated images, such as spamming them, then action will be taken against them. But one-off silly images like this are fine.

There isn’t anything wrong with a comment section discussing a subject related to the post even if that subject isn’t what the community is about.

If someone posted a picture of a cat-shaped pizza then it’d be fine for that post’s commenters to discuss pizza in general.

I prefer to allow posts with controversial subjects that don’t otherwise violate any rules, such as AI generated images, because it allows for important conversations.

I would rather allow the occasional AI image be posted so that people can discuss why AI images are bad.

No need to be sorry. I’d step down as mod if dealing with stuff like this was too much work for me.

Plus this isn’t the first time a post with an AI image has gotten this kind of response. I just copy-pasted the same comment I made the last time this happened.

She does! She has a few puzzle toys that I switch between using each day.

She’s a very smart cat, so I try to give her plenty of stimulation.

    Received a report saying:

please allow the community to vote on dead pet posts.

The community already votes on dead pet posts via upvotes/downvotes. And the results are largely in favor of allowing these posts.

I understand that death is a tough subject for some people. These sort of posts make me tear up too. But our beloved furry friends are not immortal. They all die eventually.

If this community can serve as a place to help people grieve when they lose their pets then I’d say it’s worth making a few people uncomfortable.

Rest in peace, Izumi. You were a beautiful cat that was clearly well loved in life.
