You forgot the thief rogue trying to steal everything from everyone and making them hostile towards the whole party half of the time

Listen: you jump into a dungeon in the hopes that it’s going to lead to a better life in any way and not misery and death you are an idiot. Adventurers are self selected to be idiots.

That’s true. Some are suicidal idiots. Still idiots because there are better methods of suicide.

It’s like the adventurer party that shows up at your keep in NWN1, looking for work.

NWN2, actually. NWN1 didn’t have any kind of base to operate out of. NWN2 is also the one that did the meta stuff.

Forgot to mention the absolutely incredible alt text:

    Text

At the top is written “Average D&D Party:”

A stern warrior clad in iron armor, with a billowing red cape and a red cloth tied around his waist. His hands rest on the handle of a very wide sword, the tip of which stands on the ground in front of him. He is labeled “Warrior on a just and noble quest to defeat an existential threat to the world that they live in.”

A girl with messy, blonde hair, and a bronze chestplate sewn directly onto her sleeveless shirt. She has a white ribbon tying a small messy ponytail at the back top of her hair, and is wearing tall boots with bronze arcs attached to the top of the foot parts. She is carrying a large bronze hammer, and a large bronze shield with a very upset-looking face engraved on it. She herself has an innocent expression. She is labeled “Idiot”.

A woman clad in purple with a long-sleeved shirt with symmetrical holes on the arms and torso. She has pointed ears, like an elf, and is wearing gold earings and two gold necklaces. She also wears a dress that looks somewhat like a lamp cover with a spider-web pattern on it, and has a strap that wraps around her shoulder. She wears a placid, pretty expression, but behind her in low opacity is her face distorted with mischief and hate. She is labeled “Manipulator”.

A small mage dressed in green with yellow details, and with a long, frilly mage hat featuring a poofy yellow flower on the forehead area. She also wears an equally frilly green cloak held together by a star shaped button, and golds a lightning bolt shaped spellcasting staff. She has an innocent expression, but sharp teeth and two side-ponytails peaking out from beneath her hat. She is labeled “Other, Smaller Idiot”.

She wears a placid, pretty expression

That is not how I’d describe her expression. To me, that expression looks smug/condescending/knowing

I always wind up playing The Manipulator (aka The Smart One). Even when I’d rather play The Idiot.

The group I play with… they’re not dumb, but I am much better at puzzles & problem solving. So if I try to play a character who wouldn’t know how to get out of this-or-that situation, or wouldn’t know how to solve a puzzle, I wind up subtly nudging my cohorts into the right answers, and even then they don’t get my hints and I wind up outwardly handling the situation that my dimwitted character shouldn’t be able to handle.

This was pretty much my last DND group except maybe replace the manipulator with another idiot.

I always play a warlock, awesome backstory potential with the patron mechanic. That and eldritch blast is the best cantrip.

When I ran Savage Pathfinder, the characters ended up along almost exactly these lines.
