    Fiancé was teaching during Covid lockdowns. The cats were /very/ regular appearances.

    My work team is still about 80% remote. It’s very common to have someone point their web-cam at pets during meetings. In fact we have a big sync-up meeting on Fridays where it’s practically expected that the first 5-10 minutes will be spent ogling various pet-cams. Cats, dogs, guinea pigs, lizards, turtles… one person has a pair of axolotl that are practically team mascots now.

    At a staff meeting, my boss the other day mentioned that his boss (who usually does weekly update emails) has been out on vacation for a while but he said let him know if we need anything from her urgently.

    Well, in her updates, she always includes pictures of her cats, so I jokingly said “we need pictures of her cats”. I shit you not, he mentioned this to her and while on vacation, this woman sent us all an “important update” that was just photos of her cat.
