IIRC, there was a study done with cats hearing recordings of random voices saying random words, random voices saying the cats’ names, owners’ voices saying random words, and owners’ voices saying the cats’ names, and then carefully measuring the cats’ responses.

The findings pretty convincingly showed that cats full well know their own names but choose to ignore the calls.

Mine usually does, but she actually loves me, she’s like a loyal dog.

That’s what you get from rescuing a kitten from the road.

We had 3 cats at one point and I trained them to all come to me when I said, “C’mere, kids!”

Meanwhile my dorky furball comes when called and greets me at the door. He even jumps on people. I think he accidentally had dog software installed at the factory.

His name is James (because he wears a tux) and he is a dapper gentleman:

One cat can be on the other end of the house, and I’ll just say her name, she’ll come running.

The other one I have call to as if she’s down the street when she’s in the other room.

    Whisper “treats” though…

      Cat 1: “Yay, play time!”

Cat 2: “No … fuck right off and leave me alone!”
