Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that before there is peace between Israel and the Palestinians, “Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be deradicalized.”
The trick about deradicalizing people is that you need to actually listen to their concerns and allow them a peaceful way to politically and economically achieve a life of dignity. The word Netanyahu likely wants to say instead is eradicated.
Or, more likely, the war will never end.
Mainly because of Netanyahu and other fascist war criminals like him.
How about stop bombing innocent civilians and ceasefire for a starter, that might lessen the hatred they gain for Israel.
How about stop stealing their land and homes, that might lessen the hatred they have for Israel.
Demilitarized as in no military? (English isn’t my native language) - as I’m aware, Gaza/ Palestinians do not have an actual military. It’s more just groups. Correct me if I’m wrong though.
Besides Peace? I mean, Israel has been stealing land, homes, apartheid and killing men, women and children since 1948.
Certainly what Hamas is doing, is horrifying and bad but so what Israel is doing is bad and horrifying.
Typically “de militarize” means a complete stand down of military forces. Disarming the opposition in Gaza.
Netanyahu is the single biggest obstacle to peace.
If you want to deradicalize Palestinian society, end apartheid and stop bombing civilians.
Agreed, and he makes statements like this because he has zero intention of ending the war and wants to blame the victims when it never ends.
I’d like to see both sides take some accountability for once.
Hamas needs to go just as much as Benjamin Netanyahu does.
Netanyahu needs to agree to a ceasefire, then Hamas needs to hold elections so Palestinians can choose a leadership.
Netanyahu in The Hague is missing from the list
Honestly at this point I’m all for the dissolution of Israel. Set up a new temporary government overseen by the U.N. And ensure people like Bibi are sent to The Hague.
There really doesn’t seem to be ANY good answer at this point. The removal of Israel isn’t an option, but at the same time, the forced creation of an Israeli state multiple generations ago, seems to have caused more problems than it solved.
There was a really good alternative history book touching on the topic called “The Yiddish Policeman’s Union” written by Michael Chabon.
The gag there was, at the end of WWII, instead of Israel, a Jewish refugee camp was created in and around Sitka, Alaska. But the lease was fixed for a set period of time, I forget how many years. Now, in the present day, the lease is about to expire and there’s this whole murder mystery thing.
