Looks like its a AVIF image. AVIF is not well supported unfortunately. Even on the latest version of Android it’s not 100%. But support is significantly worse on older versions of Android.
It works fine in the browser because browsers bundle their own AVIF decoders.
Support will gradually get better over time.

There is no scientific evidence that points to any negative long term effects of eye development in children after VR use. The focal point is set to infinity which is why, if you need prescription glasses/contacts, you need your own eye correction in the headset. There are studies that point to VR being helpful in remediating amblyopia (lazy eye) but more research is needed.
I’m almost in my 50’s. I would invite you to look back on all the things they said would hurt us as kids. Sitting too close to the tv, egg cholesterol, exercise for kids stunts their growth, sweets cause a sugar high, metal music, glam rock played backwards, video games, now for some reason it’s pasteurized milk and VR (instead of guns and pedos).
Kids need fun and an escape from this bullshit world. Two generations of kids, (some of who are adults now, 18+) have been exposed to VR with no documented issues… and eggs are good for you now. You don’t have to worry about my house, but thank you for your concern.
