I can understand if that’s a trigger for people but if you write “unalive” they’re going to think of “kill” or “committed suicide” or whatever so it just seems pointless. Actually unalive kind of makes more sense than undead. But depending on the story, sometimes you have to be fully dead first, so there’s a progression. Or maybe something like “non binary state of animation”? Don’t misanimate my living status, shitlord.
