Today, over five dozen countries still have laws making same-sex sexual relations illegal. Many of these laws stem from colonial rule.

Damn, there were so many of them that just originated from British colonialism.

The UK also left a lot of countries with the stinking first-past-the-post electoral system.

I’m starting to think that this British empire was evil…

United kingdom is still evil, but I wouldn’t say that the ‘empire’ still exists.

Hmm, not sure agree, it’s just not as obvious now.

Save a spot for the US, if they re-do Lawrence v Texas I promise it won’t go well with the current SCOTUS

I look at this map occasionally: https://www.equaldex.com/equality-index It’s not very nuanced and it gets some minor stuff wrong with my country, but it’s mostly correct.

Interesting, according to the map, south Asia’s got an inverse progressiveness on gender change vs homosexuality to most of the world.

In Pakistan, the map says enbies are recognized and gender change is legal with no restrictions like for minors, medical diagnosis, surgery, etc. However, if you have gay sex, you get thrown in prison for up to life.
