TLDR The left wins when we achieve working class solidarity. Excluding groups of people based on identity isn’t solidarity.

At first I thought that I needed to know what your argument defined as the left to respond to your argument. Then I realized my argument is the same regardless of that.

Any movement that success depends on excluding trans people or Palestinians or any minority group for that matter is not one I want to be a part of or one that I have any interest in succeeding.

If all we are willing to fight for is success for a handful of white cis straight men of European decent then we’ve successful divided ourselves so thoroughly that we are doomed to be ruled by either Republican fascists or Democrat fascists who serve the owner class.

Bigots use biology as a crutch to justify their bigotry. That’s how I know this woman is a bigot. Unless we are all willing to work together to fight for each other’s rights we won’t get anywhere. That means voting Democrat for the most progressives candidates we can in elections. It means solidarity with groups the Democrats would rather abandon between elections. It means abandoning bigotry and sticking with trans people.

I’ll phrase it another way. I support lesbians. I am a lesbian. Why doesn’t this woman who supports lesbians support me a transbian? How is her subscription to a division in the working class that benefits the owner class not the debilitating issue in this dynamic? Why is she not the reason the left is losing?

Why is my desire for rights the issue when I support her rights and the rights she is fighting for? I knew nothing about this woman before seeing this post. I still know mostly nothing about her. I know she doesn’t support my rights though. How am I supposed to have solidarity with her when she already went out of her way to exclude me? And why am I being gaslight into thinking I’m the problem?

There’s an idea that says we should abandon certain people based on the likelihood embracing them will cause a movement to succeed or fail. It of course adjusts this calculus based on preexisting notions of what is normal for race, ethnicity, gender, sex, attraction, physical appearance, personal ability, and everything else that shouldn’t matter at any given time.

The refutation of this line of thinking is straightforward. If we abandon trans people today it’s lesbians who will be abandoned tomorrow. But more to the point, this line of reasoning completely undermines the premise it pretends to stand for. To reiterate, the argument says, “We should stop caring about X group and just focus on the working class and calling terfs bigots is the problem”. But X group is part of the working class (X was gay people in a comment I saw elsewhere that seems to be an emotional appeal to rebrand neoliberal shifting to the right as socialist). Trans people are part of the working class. The only group that isn’t part of the working class is the owner class.

Refusing to care about a certain group of people isn’t working class solidarity. It’s doing the work of dividing the working class for the owner class.

Y’all are why the left is losing.

I’m guessing this guy is just outright lying. These people are desperate to make it seem like they didn’t waste $222 million dollars on an issue their voters didn’t care about. The number one issue among Republican voters was the economy.

A lot of the contradictions are resolved by remembering the Republican party don’t want to lead, they want to rule. So Republican politicians say things like states’ rights when they are out of power in the federal government. Because they don’t want a Democratic Party administration to have power over their state. Then we they are in they power in the federal government they stop saying states’ rights because they want power over every state.

Our democracy is flawed because of its flawed political institutions such as the electoral college that enables minority rule. What you’re describing is know as direct democracy which is a kind of democracy.

Even though we have representatives who vote on our behave that is also still democracy. Representatives are an innovation that allow democracies to scale to hundreds of millions of people.

Disproportionate representation to small states however, is another example of a flaw in our democracy that causes it to favor minority rule. This favoring of minority rule is also part how we got here. We needed record breaking turnout to correct for this and we the people did not deliver that.

People can only hold one set of beliefs in their heads at a time. By not fully internalizing neoliberalism as a scam people are unable to internalize socialism as the answer to their problems. They can’t accept systemic change or wealth redistribution if their institutions are infallible.

And with all the people pining for a dictator that agrees with them, democracy needs all the love it can get.

What people need is organization and mutual aid to help them survive another Trump admin.

Yes, because instead of socialism and democracy we got late-stage capitalism and christo-fascism.

No, it was a federal presidential constitutional republic which is a kind of democracy. The way a beagle is a kind of dog. Our democracy still intact until the inauguration at least.

If we lie about history we will be doomed to repeat it. We had a democracy and fascists took it. Organize to take it back. Tell people the truth so they don’t repeat the mistakes that got us here.

America was a democracy, but we had late-stage capitalism that was terminal. Neoliberalism was the scam that conned generations of Americans into clinging to flawed political institutions and capitalism long after they had demonstrated themselves to be ineffective.

Neoliberalism was so deeply rooted in the minds of the American people that they rejected socialism, the means of their liberation, without learning what it was and allowed fascism to flourish in their minds instead.

But we aren’t all dead yet. So as long as people are still alive we can organize against fascism. It may even be possible to take our democracy back. A good place to start is to tell people how great socialism and democracy are.

Always remember that we had a democracy. Fascists took it from us by leveraging the flaws in our institutions to take power.

The people who lie about our history do not value democracy, our freedoms, or us.

It would be great if people would help build some enthusiasm for Kamala. Trump wants to round up homeless people in camps. Republicans want to remove protections against discrimination in the workplace for trans people so they end up homeless. This is an easy choice. If you care about anyone vote for Kamala, because we will all be worse off under Trump. edit: typo

Fascism is bad for everyone. This is not a choice between two minority groups. This is a choice between democracy and fascism.

The only way to help the Palestinians is to vote for Kamala. Kamala wants a ceasefire. Trump has made it clear he wants Israel to finish what he started.

This is what accelerationism gets us. A bunch of people who are willing to let every group of people burn, because they have been fooled into thinking that things can only get better by making them worse. Things can always get worse. We have to make things better for them to get better.

If tankies and accelerationists cared about Palestinians or trans people or anyone they would vote for Kamala without a second thought. Many of these people are from the US. They can’t handle that they’re from a country that isn’t morally perfect, so rather than try to fix, they want to see it burn to the ground. It’s a kind of state of unhappy consciousness where their country’s misdeeds make them feel as if they have blood on their hands by association.

Most people recognize that beyond our vote and activism we have very little say in the day to day operations of our country. We can sleep at night by acting in a way that is useful to accomplish our goals. Tankies and accelerationists cannot. So the course of action they propose, doing nothing to impact the election out of protest, is not useful to us.
