I got Mulligan, or as we usually call him Moop after a long stay in the ICU. I asked my partner if I survived could I have a puppy? He of course said yes and I spent months dreaming of this boy from my critical care bed. I received a new set of lungs during that stay in the hospital and that summer we brought Mulligan home. Mulligan is named for my surgeon, Dr. Mulligan, which considering “a mulligan” is a do over I’m reminded the universe does have a sense of humor sometimes.
It’s crazy to think that’s so far behind me, that my little fantasy puppy is a real, grown dog who has traveled around the sun with me 11 times! Time flies, hug your pets and people and remember the sun doesn’t go down, It’s just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

What’s even better is he is my “second kid” in the sense the dog I had gotten at 19 was his older sister, she’s passed now but she was with me pre-transplant and now Moop’s got me
