Don’t cats get the equivalent of lactose intolerance when they eat carbs? I thought they basically can’t digest carbs.

I looked real quick and it seems they can?

Maybe you’re thinking about the obligate carnivore bit with cats?

My coworker showed me how her cat tore into a loaf of bread and then had horrible farts after that.

I bet it’s the complex carbs. So potatoes, brown bread, and cereals won’t digest at all, while chips and white bread won’t be as bad.

I don’t think all cats have the same digestion or gut flora either. Some cats have stinky farts for anything but wet food, while others eat anything without an odor at all.

That makes sense. No enzymes to cleave the carb chains into simple carbs. That’s how lactose intolerance works too.
