You can lay innumerable crimes against humanity against the capitalists, but they are ice cold sociopaths, not fascists. They are as incapable of hatred of the jewish people or Israel as they are of loving their own children as more than investments with an expectation of return.

A) That would take tax revenue for people that most voters sadly have almost no empathy for, despite most prisoners being products and victims of their society that were disenfranchised and driven into illegal activity out of desperation.

B) Voters largely, maliciously love the suffering of prison populations, because it provides the sweet, sweet dopamine drip of schadenfreude. Most people see schadenfreude about prisoners as entirely guilt free, even if they avoid feeling pleasure at the suffering of the poor and homeless.

People by and large fucking suck. They see prisoners as the “other,” despite them being desperate, struggling human beings and countrymen that usually needed help but received the opposite before having little to nothing left to lose.

Few other issues put the unvarnished cruelty of mankind on display like discussing how we should treat our prisoners. For every benevolent, enlightened person calling for mercy, compassion, and rehabilitation, there’s 10 bloodthirsty people screaming to turn the fucking screws on those BAAAAAAD people.

They steal the funding from public schools with each student to line wall street profits. And many of them advertise proudly how they preach greedy conservative ideologies.

Challenger Charter Schools advertises in my area literally with a student saying he was taught “to want friends that can take care of themselves.” jfc

Pretty fake front end hiding the orphan crushing, for profit backend. The owner class uses charity and non-profit good will as just another vector for their con game.

This is the American enshittification we the US have been exporting since the Reagan giveaway to turn actual societies into piggy banks for the global rigged market capitalist owner class in their insatiable need for growth/metastasis, just as the US is. They only need a few people in the right positions to accept the faustian bargain of “You can live large, in decadence you’d never believe!.. All you have to do is betray your countrymen and let us exploit them without mercy.”

It works, sadly. There’s always a few ambitious wormtongues in the right places willing to stab their neighbors in the back to get into the little sociopath club. The UK has long since fallen to this bargain, the French are fighting, but losing.

I fear for the last shining beacon of civilization when the market capitalist oligarchs succeed in destroying the Nordic societies with our unrestrained greed disease, then they can declare “there’s no better way” without a prominent example to the contrary.

The capitalists own major media, the capitalists influence curriculum, as they’ve captured the state governments that set them, from K-Colleges of Economics to say “free market” capitalism is the only way kiddies. It indoctrinates millions of non-wealthy Americans to advocate against their own interests. Hi.

They use their power over government not only to deregulate their own industries for profit, but to defund social supports and then use their media to shriek “see how government doesn’t work?! Privatize everything!”

You can sing the praises of capitalism if you want, but capitalism not straight jacketed/draconianly regulated is a social blight that removes all humanity from society. A society shouldn’t be in service to an economy, an economy should be a lowly tool to distribute goods and services for the benefit of society.

Oh ok, so you acknowledge that humanity’s footprint needs to be systematically drastically reduced for the next several generations until we reach a number this planet can sustainably support, and we need to push to end the capitalist global economy that requires infinite growth/metastasis on a finite world with finite resources immediately, in favor of an economic model that revolves around homeostasis/equilibrium, which will require necessary draconian lifestyle changes on all of our parts, right?

For the record, I’m more than willing to. I’m hilariously outnumbered though.

Now go ahead and talk about “baby steps” in the face of accelerating temperature increases. Baby steps are steps that could have made an impact that reverberated into today’s consequences half a century ago when we knew about climate change but largely pretended we didn’t.
