Yeah I feel you, like it’s not hugely used so much these days but chockas or chockabloc is definitely used around NSW. Reckon it’ll see extinction in the next generation or so though.

I have had this exact issue. I’ve had some luck training him into sitting before I feed him, now he’s 50% sit and 50% yell. It’s an improvement but he is just too excited about food time.
I tried consistent disengagement like you mentioned, physically moving him to time out, small boops on the nose, but it doesn’t feel like there’s a good way to communicate that yelling is bad consistently.
I’ve given up. He’s not too bad with it now he’s older, and the training was more difficult than the meowing was worth.
I feel like it’s much easier to train the cat to do something, but training them out of behaviours is difficult to impossible.
Or the people that are from slightly different parts of the country from you?
